Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif is visiting Doha, the capital of Iran's Persian Gulf Arab neighbor Qatar, on Wednesday. Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qasemi made the unexpected announcement on Wednesday, ISNA reported.
He is scheduled to meet his Qatari counterpart, Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani, and the sheikhdom's emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani.
The trip is probably in connection with a message of (Persian) Gulf Cooperation Council on holding fence-mending talks with Tehran, which was delivered by Kuwait late January. Iranian President Hassan Rouhani visited Kuwait and Oman last month.
