Norouz Book Sale

The Norouz or Persian New Year Book Sale started on March 5, at all member stores in the program across Iran.

The Iranian New Year (March 20) is followed by a two-week holiday to celebrate the occasion. With the slogan ‘Let’s Give Book for New Year Gift,’ the book program will run through April 4, Mehr News Agency reported. It is organized by the Book House Institute.

Majid Gholami Jalisseh, managing director of the institute said: “The New Year Book Sale is a campaign in which people including literati and artists, are encouraged to give books, instead of cash and other presents, as New Year gifts.”

So far, a total of 754 bookstores in the 31 provinces are participating in the sale. The highest rate of participation is in Tehran Province with 155 bookstores, followed by Qom Province with 100 bookshops, Isfahan with 91, and Khorasan Razavi with 68 bookstores.

Book enthusiasts can refer to the member stores in the program and get a 20% discount for adult books and 25% for children’s books.

Earlier in fall, the Autumn Book Sale covered 624 bookstores and sold a total of 659,019 books to over 209,000 customers.
