    Bone Marrow Cells Collection

By the end of the current Iranian year in March, 12 new provincial centers will be set up to collect bone marrow cells, said the technical deputy head of Iran Blood Transfusion Organization. “There are presently 19 centers operating in the 31 provinces,” Dr Karim Shams told a Tehran press conference on haemovigilance, which are the set of surveillance procedures covering the entire blood transfusion chain, from the donation and processing of blood and its components, to their transfusion to patients. A total of 706 hospitals (74.5% of the total) in the country have been covered by the haemovigilance system, ISNA reported. “The ultimate aim is to reduce waste generation during the blood processing cycle.”
