Translator Reza Motamedi, an expert in poetry translation, has converted into Persian the ‘Last Love Poems’ of French poet Paul Eluard (1895-1952) who was among the founders of the surrealist movement.
The Persian work was recently released by Ahoora Press, a publishing house with numerous representatives across Iran, which has a particular focus on poets and poetry, ISNA reported.
Eugene Emile Paul Grindel who went by the pen name Paul Eluard is widely considered to be among the most important French poets. The Last Love Poems were composed from 1946-1951, a few years before his death.
A founder of surrealism with Louis Aragon and André Breton among others, he was one of the important lyrical poets of the 20th century.
Many of his works reflect the major events of the century, such as the two World Wars, resistance against the Nazis, and the political and social ideals of time.
