Petrochem Output at 37m Tons in 9 Months

A total of 37.6 million tons of petrochemicals were produced by Iranian companies in the first nine months of the current Iranian fiscal year, the National Petrochemical Company said in a statement.

The output during the March 20-Dec. 20, 2016 period meets nearly 75% of Iran's target for actual production in its current fiscal year which is forecast to exceed 50 million tons, Shana reported.

Plants in Asalouyeh and Mahshahr, Iran's largest petrochemical hubs in the south, produced 30 million tons in the nine-month period. Officials say export of petrochemicals will exceed 20 million tons in the present fiscal which ends in March.

Iran's nominal petrochemical production capacity is around 65 million tons a year, and plans call for boosting the capacity to 130 million tons per annum by 2020 before reaching 180 million tons by 2025.
