A 30-year-old man lost his life after being struck by a subway train at Tehran’s Daneshgah Sharif Metro Station on Metro Line 2, Sunday, at 8:15 am. The victim had crossed the platform’s cautionary yellow line and was leaning forward. “It is not clear whether he committed suicide or was killed accidentally,” said Ehasan Moqaddam, director general for public relations at Tehran Urban & Suburban Railway Operation Company. In the past few months, four other similar accidents have occurred at Karaj, Shademan, Chitgar and Tehranpars metro stations in the city causing the death of four people, IRNA reported. A plan to install Platform Screen Doors (PSD) on metro lines had been discussed at an open session of the Tehran City Council (TCC) earlier; however it was not approved as installation was found to be expensive.
