A young conscript who lost a leg while trying to save a dog has been offered a job at the Department of Environment. Seyyed Mohammad Bakhtar, a 19-year-old who saved a dog trapped in barbed wire on a minefield two weeks ago, lost his right leg after a mine exploded. “After freeing the dog, I slowly lifted my right leg and I don’t remember what happened after that,” he recalled to the Persian daily Shahrvand. Massoumeh Ebtekar, the head of Department of Environment, has issued an order to hire Bakhtar, if he is willing to accept the department’s offer. “I’m grateful. I’m happy just to have a job,” he said. “I think I need to start learning about environmental studies.”
