The Sixth Bioinformatics Conference of Iran will be held at the University of Tehran on December15-13. The event has been organized by Iran’s Bioinformatics Society and the biochemistry and biophysics research centers of the university, Mehr News Agency reported. Some of the main goals of the event are to disseminate the latest achievements in different areas of bioinformatics and to create a suitable environment for the development of bioinformatics so that solutions can be derived for problem solving. In the course of the event, professors, students and researchers will exchange ideas in this field, specifically about putting bioinformatics solutions to practical use. Bioinformatics is the application of computer technology to the management of biological information. Computers are used to gather, store, analyze and integrate biological and genetic information that can then be applied to gene-based drug discovery and development.
