Almost one third of all traffic accidents involve motorbikes, said Tehran Traffic Police Chief Brigadier General Teymour Hosseini on Thursday. “Around 33% of traffic accidents are caused by or involve motorcyclists,” he said, the Young Journalists Club reported. During the first six months of the current year that started on March 20, the number of traffic fatalities decreased by 3% compared to the same period last year, according to Iran Police Chief Brigadier General Hossein Ashtari. Iran has one of the highest rates of road accidents in the world. Last year, 16,500 people lost their lives in traffic accidents.
