Boosting Hepatitis B Vaccine Production

Iran Pasteur Institute (IPI) has plans to increase production of hepatitis B vaccine and expand supply to target groups including prisoners and healthcare staff, said Dr Hooman Kaghaziyan, deputy for production affairs at the institute. “We are conducting extensive studies to find ways to increase the quality of the vaccines,” he said, Alef News Agency reported. Five million doses of hepatitis B vaccines are produced annually at the prominent institute. Earlier, the Iran Hepatitis Network announced the prevalence rate of hepatitis B had declined to less than 2% in all provinces except Sistan-Baluchistan and Golestan where the rate was a little above 2%.
