The number of organizations active in the field of women and their rights has increased by over 3,000 across the country under President Hassan Rouhani. “From 2,333 in 2013, the figure has increased to 5,711 now,” said Vice President for Women and Family Affairs, Shahindokht Molaverdi, on Saturday at a conference on the ‘Three-Year Achievements of the Eleventh Government’ at Iran National Library in Tehran. Additionally, a total of 200 new proposals for projects concerning women were pursued and approved during the period, IRNA reported. “Achieving gender equality, raising cultural awareness, and paying attention to concerns of women and family in the Resistance Economy (a set of principles outlined by the Leader aimed at bolstering domestic production and cutting dependence on oil revenues) were among the most important policies on the government agenda,” she added.
