Nanosensor to Measure Drug Dose

Iranian researchers at the Iran Nanotechnology Initiative Council have developed a nanocomposite sensor to precisely measure the amount of the drug nalbuphine. A painkiller similar to morphine, nalbuphine is used in patients suffering from heart attacks and in pre-operations. It is an opiate and is sometimes abused by amphetamine addicts. The sensor produced at the INIC presents a simple and economic method for the measurement of nalbuphine in biological samples in a wide range of concentration, and prevents common side effects of the painkiller, Mehr News Agency reported. Results of the research have been published in the international Sensors and Actuators Journal.
