The Tehran Municipality (TM) reached an agreement at the 271st meeting of the Tehran City Council (TCC) on Tuesday with the Health Ministry for collection of hospital waste
Around 18 tons of infectious and hazardous medical wastes are collected in the capital alone per day which needs to be separated at source, IRNA quoted Alireza Dabir, a member of the TCC presiding board as saying.
Pointing to the waste management bill which was approved at the session, he said a landfill cell system for medical waste has been proposed and a special incinerator will be placed at the site by the end of the current year in March.
As per the bill, the TM will receive $3.7 for collection of each 100 kg of industrial and agricultural waste and $4.9 for collection of each 100 kg of hospital waste.
