An Iranian researcher and associate professor in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Science and Technology in Tehran has been awarded the 2016 CHEMRAWN VII for Green Chemistry presented by the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry. Dr. Ali Maleki received the award in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the field of green chemistry, IUPAC said in a press release. The biennial CHEMRAWN VII Prize was first announced in August 2008 at the IUPAC International Conference on Green Chemistry. The $5,000 prize is granted to a researcher (below 45 years of age) from an emerging region who is actively contributing in green chemistry. Maleki, who has a PhD in organic chemistry from Tehran’s Shahid Behesti University, will receive the prize at the 6th IUPAC Conference on Green Chemistry in Venice, September 4-8. The IUPAC is a global authority on chemical nomenclature and terminology.
