Secretary of Iran Pharmacists Association Dr. Mahdi Sajjadi on Wednesday warned against the fast-growing online pharmacies. “Supply of medicine via internet is against the law, and the so-called online pharmacies are unauthorized,” he said, ISNA reported. Illegal supply of contraband, smuggled, and expired medications, food supplements, and medical devices is a growing concern across the world, and Iran’s pharmaceutical market is apparently not immune, he added. Sajjadi stressed that no authorized entity is to offer medications online with or without prescriptions, and the existent pharmacies are allowed to offer only non-medical items such as hygienic products on their websites.
