Plans to Promote Academic Coop.

Tehran plans to increase joint academic projects with foreign universities in the current Iranian year (began March 20), said Hussein Salar Amoli, deputy minister of science and technology for international cooperation. “So far we have cooperation with 95 countries in organizing joint research programs, and are making efforts to double the joint scientific programs this year,” he said, Mehr News Agency reported. Head of Iran’s University of Applied Science and Technology (UAST) Mohammad Akhbari said states including Afghanistan, Iraq, Mali and Turkmenistan have so far requested the establishment of UAST branches.
