The Swiss are eager to launch direct flights between the Central European country and Iran, according to Jurg Schmid, director of the national tourism organization Switzerland Tourism. “Direct flights between the two nations are imperative to developing bilateral tourism ties,” he said at a meeting with Iran’s tourism officials on Monday, the Persian daily Donya-e-Eqtesad reported. Schmid arrived in Iran at the weekend as part of a high-ranking delegation headed by Swiss President Johann Schneider-Ammann. The two countries released a joint statement outlining a roadmap to expand cooperation.
