Tehran’s rodent population has decreased by 22% this year (ends March 19)compared to the previous year, said Reza Qadimi, managing director of Tehran Municipality’s Industries and Occupations Organizing Center at the annual press conference on rat and other pathogenic organisms control, held Saturday. “Currently, Tehran is home to more than 1.4 million rats,” Alef News Agency quoted him as saying. The rodent population is highest in the two avenues of Sattar Khan and Vali-e-Asr because of the wide presence of fast food restaurants and the wide storm water drains, he added.
