A total of 180 German ambulances have been purchased and will enter the country next week to help meet road safety and emergency needs during the Norouz (Iranian New Year) holiday season (begins March 17), said Iraj Harirchi, deputy health minister. “The new fleet cost 540 billion rials ($15.4 million), and will be distributed among the 31 provinces prior to the holidays,” he said, IRNA reported. In addition, to further accommodate travelers and tourists during the 15-day holidays, 1,300 hospitals beds, including for ICUs, will be inaugurated across the country in the first week of March. The number of physicians, nurses, and healthcare centers will also see an increase in rural and urban areas along with additional facilities during the annual holidays.
