The daily average rate of fatal accidents at the work place during the first nine months of the current Iranian year (began March 21), has decreased to four from five in the previous year.
This marks a 20% drop in fatal accidents at the workplace, Borna News Agency reported. A total of 257 men and two women lost their lives at work this year.
According to statistics provided by the Iranian Legal Medicine Organization, on average, 5.5 people lost their lives to work-related accidents every day in 2013 and the number fell to 5 in 2014. It currently stands at 4 people per day.
Most cases were due to falls from elevated heights while working, getting hit by a falling object or burn injuries or asphyxiation in a fire.
