    Merkel to Visit Iran

German Chancellor Angela Merkel will visit Iran in the coming months, said the head of Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture.  “Although the visit has not been officially reported, informed sources have confirmed it,” Mehr News Agency quoted Mohsen Jalalpour as saying on Monday. Jalalpour did not elaborate. Earlier in January, former German chancellor, Gerhard Schroeder, leading a 27-member delegation, including representatives of Germany’s small- and medium-sized enterprises active in economic sectors such as transportation, visited Iran.  German Economy Minister Sigmar Gabriel is also due to pay a visit to Tehran in early May to drum up bilateral trade.  Germany’s Chambers of Commerce and Industry has said it expects exports to Iran to double to €5 billion ($5.5 billion) in the coming years and reach twice that figure in the long run.
