The head of Iran's interest section in Cairo said Tehran "focuses on similarities" in its relations with Egypt.
Mahmoud Mahmoudian made the remarks in a press conference in Cairo, the Fars news agency reported on Thursday.
"Minor differences should not block establishment of all-out bilateral relations."
Referring to Iran's keen interest in developing ties with Egypt, he expressed Tehran's readiness to provide Egypt and the Muslim world with its experience and achievements in various fields.
Mahmoudian touched on some common views of the two countries on the situation in Syria and Iraq, adding, "Unity between Iran and Egypt will bear fruitful results for both nations."
He noted that Tehran respects general elections in Egypt, reiterating, "Iran is keen to have all-out cooperation with Egypt."
The official warned of religious conflicts in the region and the efforts being made to worsen the situation.
He also referred to the international coalition formed to fight against the Islamic State (IS) terrorist group and said, "The United States is itself a sponsor of terrorism, and Iran rejects participation in the US-led anti-IS coalition."
Elsewhere, Mahmoudian pointed to the ongoing nuclear negotiations between Iran and the six major powers and said, "The negotiations on Iran's nuclear program will take time and Iran is resolved to preserve its rights to use nuclear energy for peaceful purposes."
