Shelter for Homeless Women

The municipality’s first women’s shelter with a capacity to house 100 homeless women, opened in district 22 of Tehran, said Farzad Hooshyar Parsian, head of Tehran Municipality’s Welfare, Services and Social Participation Organization. Six female social workers and physicians are providing services at the center. One hot meal will be provided to inmates every day, he said, Alef News Agency reported. Earlier in January, a center for treatment and empowerment of homeless women called ‘Saray-e-Mehrbanoo’ was opened by an NGO, Tolu-e-Bineshanhan, in Tehran. It provides shelter for 250 homeless women.
