Italian Interest in Chabahar

The Italian firm Italconsult, is willing to invest in setting up a private bank in the Chabahar FreeTrade Zone, the managing director of Chabahar Free Trade and Industrial Zone, Hamed Ali Mobaraki said on Monday. He said the Italians have expressed interest in expanding economic activities in Chabahar after the lifting of sanctions. A delegation including directors of some Italian banks and firms will visit the island next month to evaluate market opportunities.  According to Mobaraki the Italians are specifically interested in investment and financing infrastructure projects such as petrochemical ventures, airports and railroads. He believes that the Italian company can also serve as a consultant in the banking sector in the free zone. Italconsult is an Italian engineering consulting company founded in Rome in 1957.
