The Food and Drug Administration has granted food industries a grace period of six months to display food safety labels on their products, said FDA head Rasoul Dinarvand.
“Production permits will not be renewed for those who fail to do so in the extended period,” he said at a press conference on the eve of World Food Day observed globally on October 16, IRNA reported.
The food industry has so far shown reluctance to abide by the directive as it means increase in costs and consequently reduction in sales.
Food manufacturers are given time till the end of the current Iranian year (March 20, 2016) to display food safety tags to avert suspension or closure.
