Balasubramaniam Murali, UNDP deputy resident representative in Iran, announced the establishment of 48 Tuberculosis (TB) laboratories with modern diagnostic equipment in the country. For the first time, 4 Genexpert devices to identify patients with drug-resistant TB disease are available in the country, IRNA reported. The country’s TB treatment success rate was 85% in 2012, higher than the TB control joint program’s goal. “Although for eradication of the disease we should continue cooperation till 2050,” Murali said.
