Middle East Women’s Legal Network Proposed

Iran has proposed setting up the Middle East Women legal network to extend counsel and support women in the region, said Vice-President for Legal Affairs, Elham Aminzadeh.

“The network will offer a comprehensive system of legal counseling services to women in the region,” IRNA quoted her as saying.

The proposal was welcomed during the recent International Seminar on Women’s Role in Sustainable Economy, and the first meeting to adopt the legal framework for the network will be held soon in Tehran.

Women’s security is the cornerstone of sustainable development, in the absence of which “dictatorship and arrogance will prevail leading to cultural and material poverty,” she said, urging female lawyers to take the initiative to extend counsel services to women in the Middle East.
