Ceramic Cover for Bone Implant Fixation

A group of researchers at Tehran’s Amir Kabir University have developed a method by which ceramic coating is used for bone implant fixation to accelerate recovery.

“The quality and speed of new graft attachment to the host bone is significant without which it can cause harm to the healing process, requiring surgery,” said Souran Hariri, a member of the research team. Using biomimetics, a ceramic coating is placed over the implanted graft to help accelerate and enhance its ingrowth process. The new method overcomes previous shortcomings such as high costs or specific temperature needed, reports ictpress.ir.
