The first LRT (Light Rail Transit) line in Tehran will be launched by the end of the next Iranian year (March 2017). City traffic congestion is a major problem and it can be partly addressed by development of such a system. “The LRT will not only facilitate quick urban transport but also help protect the environment and ensure traffic safety,” ISNA reported Tehran Mayor, Mohammadbagher Ghalibaf as saying.
