In an effort to promote book reading, one million new books and booklets will be distributed among commuters in buses and subway users as of October. “The project to provide free reading material on public transport was halted three years ago, but will resume soon,” said Mahmoud Salehi, head of Tehran Municipality’s Art and Culture Organization, ISNA reports. “No efforts should be spared to encourage intellectual activities in the society. Lack of funds shouldn’t be an excuse to stop the promoting of book reading,” he added.
