The world is facing its "worst refugee crisis" since World War II and Europe has to do its part to solve it in a civilized way, EU migration commissioner Dimitris Avramopoulos said on Friday.
"Today the world finds itself facing the worst refugee crisis since the Second World War," Avramopoulos told a press conference, AFP reported.
"What we must do … is to organize our system in order to face this problem in a decent, civilized and European way."
So far this year, more than 2,000 people have died attempting to cross the Mediterranean this year, making 2015 a record year for fatalities, according to the International Organization for Migration.
