Iran will attend the forum on advancing gender equality and women’s empowerment that will be held on the sidelines of a UN summit to adopt the post-2015 development agenda, mandated by the UN General Assembly.
“The September 25-27 summit in New York will be convened as a high-level plenary meeting of the General Assembly,” said Leila Falahati, head of the Department of Women Studies, Iranian Institute for Social and Cultural Studies, affiliated to the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology. The 70th session of the UN General Assembly will consolidate the commitment of nations in implementing the post-2015 development agenda and sustainable development goals as well as the plan of action agreed by member states at the Fourth World Conference on Women, ‘Action for Equality, Development and Peace,’ held in September 1995 in Beijing, China, reports ISNA.
