Riyadh Will Be Loser in Yemen War

The head of the Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Committee said Saudi Arabia will be the "real loser" of the Yemen war, saying Saudi assault on Yemen will leave behind nothing but "disgrace, shame and humiliation" for the intruders. "Bombs and rockets do not determine the fate of war," Alaeddin Boroujerdi said at a press conference in the western province of Hamadan on Thursday, IRNA reported.

Criticizing the international community for its silence on Saudi crimes in Yemen, including taking military action against the impoverished nation without a UN mandate, the parliamentarian said Iran is the "only voice" in support of the oppressed war-hit nation.

Turning to another crisis facing the region, namely the expansion of terrorism, Boroujerdi said the world has now come to the conclusion that seeking Iran's aid is a must in the fight against the so-called Islamic State (IS) militant group, adding that "hands are extended toward Iran" to deal with the terrorist group.  "The establishment of a coalition to fight the IS was merely a gesture by the US," he said, adding that Washington consistently supports the terrorists by providing them with arms.  "Iran has always backed the oppressed nations of the region, while it has managed to preserve its independence," noted the lawmaker.
