Close to 208,000 metric tons of barley, valued at $54 million, was imported during the first month of the current Iranian calendar year (started March 21), recording an increase of 900% in terms of weight compared with the similar period last year, according to the latest statistics released by Iran’s Customs Administration. Based on the data, over 1.8 million tons of barley, valued at $500 million, was imported throughout the past Iranian year, which shows a threefold increase compared with the preceding year.
