A strong earthquake measuring 4.9 on the Richter scale shook the non-residential island of Hendurabi in southern Bandar-e Abbas, Hormuzgan Province Monday morning. According to the seismological base of the Geophysics Institute of Tehran University, the quake occurred at 10:04 hours local time (05:34 GMT) at a depth of 20 km. There were no reports of damage. Hendurabi is located 28 km off the Kish Island in the Persian Gulf.
