Twenty percent of road accidents occur due to cell phone use while driving, Traffic Police Chief Eskandar Momeni said.
Five percent of cell phone-related crashes happen “as the driver is texting, and the remaining are due to drivers’ distraction while talking on handheld or hands-free cell phones,” he added, quoted by Mehr News Agency.
Also a report in the Journal of Safety Research, said that driving performance while using a hands-free phone was rarely found to be better than using handheld devices.
