Domestic Firm Offers AI, Supercomputer Services

A knowledge-based company has designed and launched a cloud computing system to provide cloud-based supercomputer and artificial intelligence services by using domestic knowhow

A knowledge-based company has designed and launched a cloud computing system to provide cloud-based supercomputer and artificial intelligence (AI) services by using domestic knowhow.

“Surin Smart Company’s main fields of activity are to provide equipment and professional solutions for meeting a wide range of needs, including cloud computing, dedicated cloud, fast processing, powerful supercomputers, AI and professional storage,” Mostafa Soltani, the company’s CEO, was also quoted as saying by the news portal of the Vice Presidency for Science and Technology.

The CEO emphasized that the company is only active in the field of software development and imports the required hardware.

Noting that the domestic cloud computing service is cost effective, Soltani said, “These smart systems have foreign counterparts, but due to sanctions, high costs and payment problems, they are not readily available for Iranian users. Therefore, the domestic supercomputing system was designed to provide cloud-based services in a remote manner.”

The company’s main software include Surin Cloud Management System, Enterprise Cloud Storage and Cluster Management System.

Surin Cloud Management System is able to control a large set of computing, storage and network resources in a data center. These controls are provided to the system administrator through a management dashboard. Cloud users can also access the resources they need through a web interface.

Enterprise Cloud Storage gives information technology (IT) managers the ability to easily manage their data and share it among users with high control and access.

The Cluster Management System makes it possible for IT executives to easily manage their clusters and get the most out of them.

According to Soltani, the company also provides consulting, designing and installation services.

“At present, domestic experts are working in the fields of cloud computing software production and development, while other technology experts are offering after-sales services,” he said.

Domestic PIS 60% Cheaper Than Foreign Systems

Another knowledge-based company has developed a passenger information system (PIS) that is mainly used in subways to make announcements and broadcast promotional videos, the CEO of Madar Tarah-e Arad Company said.

“The domestic PIS, a subset of software and hardware subsystems, helps meet domestic needs at a price lower than similar foreign systems while having the same high quality,” Alireza Bodaghi was also quoted as saying by the news portal of the Vice Presidency for Science and Technology.

Stressing that the system is based on domestic technology, the CEO noted that this has reduced its cost by more than 60% compared to foreign counterparts.

The CEO said lower repair and maintenance costs, warranty, long-term after-sales services, compatibility with the needs of operation teams, along with expandability and customization, are among the advantages of the domestic system.

According to Bodaghi, mini-computers that cover the needs of industrial software and hardware developers are the second knowledge-based product of the company.

“Based on their processing powers and diverse hardware interfaces, these mini-computers can meet the needs of the domestic market in various fields, such as electronics, hardware and software development, as well as digital businesses,” he said.

Mini-computers are smaller, less expensive and less powerful than a mainframe or supercomputer, but more expensive and more powerful than a personal computer. They are used for scientific and engineering computations, business transaction processing, file handling and database management.

Also known as a mid-range computer, mini-computers allow more than one user to work simultaneously on the same system.

Iranian Telecom Equipment Excellent

A knowledge-based company has produced telecommunication equipment that are of superior quality and can help prevent a significant foreign currency outflow from importing counterparts.

The products of Ava Communication Industries Company in the fields of IP Multimedia Subsystems (IMS) and Next Generation Networks (NGN) have successfully replaced European and Chinese brands in the country's telecommunication network, according to the company’s CEO, Gholamali Hassani.

“In recent years, the company’s products have obtained all relevant approvals. They are being used by public and private companies and organizations, and possess the most advanced technologies in this field.”

He noted that the company is active in the design, production and development of call centers, data networks and next-generation telecom systems.

“The constant monitoring and updating of product security, customization and integration of communications portal, as well as its one-third lower price compared to foreign counterparts, are the main advantages of the company’s products,” he said.

“At present, more than 5 million telecommunication switches produced by the company have been purchased by the Telecommunication Company of Iran, Telecommunication Infrastructure Company, fixed communications providers, most ministries and major organizations.”

Referring to the production of next-generation telecom centers, Hassani said that in view of the need to integrate communications in organizations, the company started designing and producing next-generation call centers to meet domestic needs.

“Based on the latest telecommunication technology, the company’s call center is considered the first and only of its kind completely designed and produced in Iran,” he added.

According to the CEO, the company’s projects have prevented the outflow of millions of dollars, while making the country self-sufficient in this strategic area.

“In case of government support, the outflow of more than €30 million will be prevented,” he added.

Stressing that cloud-based IMS/NGN products are the latest technology in this field, Hassani said only a few companies in the world produce these types of products that have huge export potentials.

“The company has created 100 direct jobs, but with the increase in production and the development of new products, it will be possible to create 1,000 direct and 10,000 indirect jobs in the next two years,” he said.
