Sell-side pressure again hit Tehran stocks Monday, for the fifth consecutive session, amid persistent outflow of capital by retail investors.
The main index of Tehran Stock Exchange, TEDPIX, shed 5,409.34 points and lost 0.38% to end trade at 1,424,497.
However, small caps outperformed pushing the TSE’s equal-weighted index into positive territory with the index closing nearly 0.2% higher.
At the close of the session, 299 tickers gained while 331 others dropped, representing 53% of the total traded stocks.
Capital outflow from the struggling bourse continues unabated. Net capital outflow by retail investors on Monday reached 2.35 trillion rials ($8.1 million).
Retail trade increased 15% on the previous session to log 32 trillion rials ($110m) on Monday. About 6.57 billion shares worth 40.20 trillion rials ($138.6m) changed hands at TSE for the day.
TSE, the financial intermediary company, was the big winner as its shares went up 5.85% to 5,610 rials per share.
Leasing company Khodro Ghadir incurred the biggest loss among all TSE-listed companies plunging 5.3% to 7,860 rials per share.
Golgohar Mining and Industrial Company contributed the most to the benchmark's fall, followed by Mobarakeh Steel Company, Chadormalu Mining & Industrial Company and Mellat Bank.
Iran Khodro Company gave the biggest boost to the benchmark index, followed by Nouri Petrochemical Company, Iran Mercantile Exchange and Social Security Investment Company.
IFX Up 0.16%
Iran Fara Bourse main index, IFX, gained 29.99 points or 0.16% to close Monday at the 18,990. About 4.64 billion shares and securities were traded at junior equities exchange for the day.
Day Bank had the highest number of traded shares as 305.73 million of its shares worth 209.74 billion rials ($723,258) were traded.
Gohar Zamin Iron Ore Company, Arya Sasol Polymer Company, Lavan Oil Refining Company and Arta Wheel Tire Industrial Complex had the most negative impact on IFX.
Zagros Petrochemical Company gave the biggest boost to IFX, followed by Iran Fara Bourse, Kowsar Insurance Company and Pouya Zarkan Agh Darreh Company.
