Tehran’s share market improved at the close of trading week on Wednesday, building on slight gains in the previous session.
The benchmark of Tehran Stock Exchange, the market cap-weighted TEDPIX, gained 7,340.30 points or 0.51% to close at 1,437,360.
Small caps and penny stocks took the lead outpacing large caps for the second time as seen in the 0.9% rise in TSE’s equal-weighted index.
About 6.1 billion shares worth 39.52 trillion rials ($127 million) changed hands at TSE for the day.
Trading at TSE and the junior equities exchange Iran Fara Bourse starts on Saturday and ends Wednesday.
Nirou Moharekeh Industrial Group Company was the top gainer as its shares went up 5.9% to 3,212 rials per share.
Khazar Cement Company incurred the biggest loss among all TSE-listed companies giving up 5.12% to buy 24,260 rials per share.
Golgohar Mining and Industrial Company contributed the most to the benchmark's fall, followed by Fanavaran Petrochemical Company, Tabris Oil Refining Company and Iran Chemical Industries Investment Company.
Pardis Petrochemical Company gave the biggest boost to the benchmark index, followed by Persian Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company, National Iranian Copper Industries Company and Iran Khodro Company.
IFX Up 0.5%
Iran Fara Bourse main index, IFX, gained 95.52 points or 0.51% to close Wednesday at 18,861.6.
About 2.7 billion shares and securities valued at 124.29 trillion rials ($400m) were traded at the junior equities exchange for the day.
Kerman Province Development Investment Company had the highest number of traded shares as 85.41 million of its shares worth 64.66 billion rials ($222,982) were traded.
Melal Credit Institution, Gohar Zamin Iron Ore Company, Saman Insurance Company and Iranian Ghadir Iron and Steel Company had the most negative impact on IFX.
Zagros Petrochemical Company gave the biggest boost to IFX, followed by Arya Sasol Polymer Company, Damavand Power Generation Company and Pasargad Insurance Company.
