The market cap-weighted TEDPIX lost 968.73 points or 0.07% to end trading at 1,438,448.
The TSE’s equal-weighted index was down 0.7%, indicating that small caps underperformed.
Retail trade plunged 6% to reach 24.72 trillion rials ($79 million).
A total of 4.78 billion shares valued at 30.62 trillion rials ($99 m) changed hands at the TSE on Tuesday.
National Iranian Copper Industries Company contributed the most to the benchmark's fall, followed by Kish South Kaveh Steel Company, Omid Investment Management Group Company and Golgohar Mining and Industrial Company.
Persian Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company gave the biggest boost to the benchmark index, followed by Islamic Republic of Iran Shipping Lines Company, Nouri Petrochemical Company and Esfahan Oil Refining Company.
IFX Slips 0.3%
Iran Fara Bourse main index, IFX, lost 55.89 points or 0.3% to close Tuesday trade at the 18,818.
About 1.77 billion shares and securities worth 126.45 trillion rials ($406m) were traded at the junior equities exchange for the day.
Minoo Industrial Group Company, Damavand Power Generation Company, Iran Cultural Heritage and Tourism Investment Group Company and Melal Credit Institution had the most negative impact on IFX.
Alborz Distribution Company gave the biggest boost to IFX, followed by Pouya Zarkan Agh Darreh Company, Arya Sasol Polymer Company and Gohar Tarabar Sirjan Transportation Company.
