Iranian Company Produces More Efficient Ultrasound Device

A domestic knowledge-based company has produced a prototype of a therapeutic ultrasound device mainly used in physiotherapy

A domestic knowledge-based company has produced the prototype of a therapeutic ultrasound device mainly used in physiotherapy, which was previously imported.

It will be mass produced after undergoing successful testing, according to the news portal of the Vice-Presidency of Science and Technology.

The device helps eliminate or reduce the severity of disorders such as tendon strain, muscle problems, nerve and spinal stimulation, sports injuries, rheumatism and osteoarthritis.

The usual treatment duration is between 3 weeks and 2 months, but this device has reduced this period to 1 to 2 weeks.

The device is suitable for physiotherapy centers, clinics and sport clubs. Elderly people, athletes and those who exert high pressure on muscles during exercise can benefit from this device.

The company’s research and development team is also testing the device’s efficacy in cancer treatment. As the drugs used in chemotherapy spread to other parts of the body, they damage organs and trigger hair loss.

The device is expected to help deliver the drugs to the desired part of the body through blood supply and sound waves without damaging other organs.

Ehsan Baqeri, the CEO of Ghalb-e-Sanaat Jahan, said the company looks forward to the continued support of the Vice-Presidency of Science and Technology.

Company Supplies Raw Materials to Pharmas

An Iranian knowledge-based company produces ingredients and fillers used by pharmaceutical companies to eliminate the need for imports.

By producing magnesium oxide and calcium carbonate that are widely used in the pharmaceutical industry, Ehya Kimia-e-Shargh Knowledge-Based Company is helping Iranian producers meet domestic needs and enter the markets of neighboring countries.

Fillers are inactive substances used in pharmaceutical compounding to give size to finished products and ease the processing of a product.

“These materials, after processing and formulation, become pharmaceutical raw materials. Magnesium oxide is used as a raw material for the production of magnesium hydroxide and magnesium stearate in pharmaceutical production of medicines,” Mosayyeb Jalali, the CEO of the company, was quoted as saying by the news portal of the Vice-Presidency for Science and Technology.

It is the only company producing pharmaceutical-grade magnesium oxide in Iran. Its product has a standard and purity higher than the product’s USP (United States Pharmacopeia).

Competitive Advantage

The product’s quality is similar to that of foreign products and also cheaper.

Apart from its experienced production team, the company also has a specialized team for research and development.

The country's estimated need for this product is 120 tons per year that, if supported, could be totally met by the company.

Pharmaceutical-grade calcium carbonate is used as a filler for pharmaceutical raw materials.

According to the company’s CEO, one of the most important needs of Iranian manufacturing companies is to have exports.

“Iranian manufacturing companies are involved in production as well as research and development. If an organization working with knowledge-based companies were to buy their products and export them, it would be very supportive for production companies,” he said.

“This will be cost-effective for knowledge-based companies and greatly help their development.”

Electrical Heart Activity Recorder

Holter heart monitor is a device that records the electrical activity of the heart continuously and full time.

Mohsen Avesta, CEO of Kavoshgaran Teb Kharazmi Medical Engineering Company, said a Holter records the electrical activity of the heart for at least 24 hours.

When symptoms such as dizziness, fainting, low blood pressure, prolonged fatigue and palpitations appear in a patient without a definitive diagnosis, a resting signal is obtained by a Holter, which helps monitor the patient more effectively.

The Holter device is easily connected to the patient's body by chest electrodes and continuously records the heart's electrical signals in normal conditions on its memory card to help the doctor get a more complete diagnosis of arrhythmias.

The device will be connected to the person for 24-48 hours and is portable.
