With the proliferation of online services, many domestic companies have entered the field, such that 184 platforms are currently active.
The more participants a platform attracts, the more attractive the environment for suppliers becomes and the greater the value of the platform, the Vice-Presidency of Science and Technology reported.
These platforms include Achar Farance [Wrench in Persian] that provides technical services at home, Pelak [License plate in Persian] that offers multiple home services, Lian is an integrated platform for supply and demand of goods and services, Carboy delivers car services at the customer's place, Yoohoo provides video service, Tagmond showcases clothing brands, Parscoders handles job marketing and Rayhoon services food orders.
Businesses need to use digital platforms for boosting their competitive advantages in order to thrive in the domestic and global markets.
Five Projects Enhance IoT Ecosystem
The Internet of Things has made unprecedented progress in recent years.
Last year, the Digital Economy and Intelligence Headquarters of the Vice-Presidency for Science and Technology finalized projects approved by the Internet of Things Working Group.
The five projects with high potentials in the field of IoT are as follows:
Fava Tayf (Spectrum in Persian)
This project identifies the capacities and opportunities for the development of the IoT technology market and its policy priorities in the country.
Vistahm
The Vistahm project works in the field of IoT-based road traffic intelligence.
Lavan Payesh Vandade
The project designs, implements and executes the LoRaWAN network in Tehran. LoRaWAN defines the communication protocol and system architecture for the network, while the LoRa physical layer enables the long-range communication link.
Moje Ayande Farafan
In this project, smart agriculture in the context of the Internet of Things will be addressed.
Nabze-Hooshmand Salamat
This project is focused on development of technology related to smart health system based on IoT technology with the aim of smartening up in the field of health by connecting to Nabze Ava application.
AI to Help Detect, Treat Six Mental Illnesses
Iran has also advanced in the use of artificial intelligence for the diagnosis and treatment of mental illness.
Mental disorders and psychiatric illnesses are very challenging to diagnose, but a new software designed by domestic experts can diagnose six illnesses much faster than traditional methods.
Using advanced and convergent technologies, the diagnostic software gains insight into illnesses that the traditional treatment was unable to.
The software diagnoses chronic depression, chronic anxiety, bipolar disorder, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder and schizophrenia.
“A collection of data from patients with different disorders has been collected, which includes structural, functional and structural-functional images,” said Mohammad Reza Nazemzadeh, a faculty member of Tehran University of Medical Sciences.
The new method uses magnetic resonance imaging to provide accurate information about each individual and offers an effective diagnostic aid tool.
The images are evaluated to determine the type of disease and the damaged area in the brain, following which an appropriate treatment protocol is recommended.
In the field of mental health, all methods and diagnoses are made based on face-to-face interviews and visits by a psychiatrist, while with this method, X-rays provide more detailed images and information to the doctor.
The treatment of the disease, which observes advanced protocols, is scientifically precise and gives faster results.
The advanced version of the software uses five archetypes from each field whose images before and after treatment are adapted to the models that are specific to the Iranian patient under study. This feature will be added to the current version of the software in the early months of the next fiscal year (starting March 21).
With the development of this psycho-radiology software, Iran ranks among the few countries using this technology.
The software has reached the production stage.
Electrical Heart Activity Recorder
Holter heart monitor is a device that records the electrical activity of the heart continuously.
Mohsen Avesta, CEO of Kavoshgaran Teb Kharazmi Medical Engineering Company, said, a Holter is a device that records the electrical activity of the heart for at least 24 hours.
When symptoms such as dizziness, fainting, low blood pressure, prolonged fatigue and palpitations appear in a patient without a definitive diagnosis, a resting signal is obtained by a Holter or EC, which help monitor the patient more effectively.
The Holter device is easily connected to the patient's body by chest electrodes and continuously records the heart's electrical signals in normal conditions on its memory card to help the doctor get a more complete diagnosis of arrhythmias.
The device will be connected to the person for 24-48 hours and is portable.
