So far, 5,000 volunteers have signed up to become honorary policemen. Tehran Police Chief Brigadier General Hossein Sajedinia said at the inauguration ceremony of the Honorary Police Headquarters that the plan was conceived in 2014 and, the first squad of honorary police began their operations in the capital last March. Sajedinia added that people from all walks of life including government employees, journalists and some highly educated people have volunteered to cooperate with police, ISNA reported.
