Iran and Syria signed on Monday a memorandum of understanding on bilateral cooperation in the fields of administrative affairs and employment.
The MoU was signed in Tehran on the Syrian side by Minister of Administrative Development Salam Safaf and on the Iranian side by Maytham Latifi, assistant to the Iranian president and head of the Organization for Public Administration and Employment Affairs.
The agreement calls for benefiting from the experiences of both parties, especially in human capacity building and management, the Syrian Arab News Agency reported.
The two sides held talks on ways to enhance cooperation in undertaking administrative reform, training and qualification, human resources management and the use of information technology to reach the desired goals.
Safaf said, “We have plans, work programs and administrative policies in Syria to achieve administrative development and reform by enhancing the performance of human resources, providing cadres and workers in different sectors with administrative training, raising their level of awareness and qualification, in addition to amending and updating regulatory laws and benefiting from information technology to achieve development, improve administrative performance and generate employment.”
She stressed that the start of cooperation in the field of human resources between the two countries is a qualitative step in bilateral relations, pointing out that Syria has made great progress in the field of social and administrative development and strategic and administrative planning.
Latifi affirmed full readiness to cooperate with Syria and put the Iranian side’s expertise at the disposal of the Syrian side.
The two sides also stressed the importance of holding training workshops that raise the level of administrative awareness by making use of modern technology.
Syrian Ambassador in Tehran Shafiq Diop stressed that the establishment of bilateral cooperation in the field of administrative development, as a new field of cooperation, is of great importance to both countries and is one of the important priorities of the Syrian government.
