Tehran stocks paused at the end of trading week on Wednesday after a weeklong rally as investors focused on saving gains.
The main index of Tehran Stock Exchange, TEDPIX, failed to advance above the critical 1.3 million points, ending flat losing 37.74 points to close at 1,301,196.
At the close of the session, 179 tickers gained and prices of 291 shares dropped, accounting for 59% of the total.
Retail trade dropped 16% to reach 34.77 trillion rials ($126 million), representing 43% of the total.
About 8.09 billion shares valued at 44.04 trillion rials ($157m) changed hands at the TSE on Wednesday.
Trading at TSE and junior exchange Iran Fara Bourse starts on Saturday and ends Wednesday.
Alborz Darou Pharmaceuticals Company was the biggest winner as its shares went up 5.01% to 8,590 rials per share.
Navard and Iran Steel Parts Manufacturing Company incurred the biggest loss among all TSE-listed companies and went down 4.92% to 172,980 rials per share.
Nouri Petrochemical Company contributed the most to the benchmark's fall, followed by Esfahan Oil Refining Company, Bandar Abbas Oil Refining Company and Telecommunication Company of Iran.
Tejarat Bank gave the biggest boost to the benchmark index followed by Chadormalu Mining And Industrial Company, Mellat Bank and Golgohar Mining and Industrial Company.

Iran Fara Bourse main index, IFX, lost 19.57 points or 0.11% to close Wednesday trade at 17,661.83. About 2.87 billion shares and securities valued at 45.37 trillion rials ($162m) were traded at the junior exchange for the day.
Arya Sasol Polymer Company, Zagros Petrochemical Company, Iran Cultural Heritage and Tourism Investment Group Company and Iran Fara Bourse had the most negative impact on IFX.
Hormozgan Steel Company gave the biggest boost to IFX, followed by Pasargad Insurance Company, Tajali Mines and Metals Development Company and Iranian Reinsurance Company.
