    Majlis, Gov’t Hold Joint Meeting

President Ebrahim Raeisi in a joint meeting of the parliament and government on Wednesday underscored cooperation between the two branches of power to draft next year’s budget.

“We consider counseling with friends in the parliament and experts an investment,” the top official was quoted as saying by President.ir.

He noted that his administration was seeking to put forward a budget that would not cause a deficit or inflation and bring about economic growth.

“The country is in dire need of sympathy and coherence… the goal is to provide service to the public, solve their problems and improve national affairs,” he added.

Raeisi reiterated that his administration and the Majlis must prioritize issues based on severity, and put special focus on the main problems Iran currently faces.

Since the United States reneged on the 2015 nuclear deal, formally known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, and imposed unilateral sanctions against Iran, the country has been tackling a growing host of financial problems and rampant inflation.

The president emphasized that both his government and the parliament should not be sidelined with trivial matters.

Raeisi concluded that the parliament’s foremost obligation is to pass laws that can guarantee justice across society.
