Tehran stocks rallied at the end of trading week on Wednesday strengthening stockholders’ hopes to pare mounting losses of previous times.
The benchmark of Tehran Stock Exchange, TEDPIX, drew near to the psychological 1.4 million points, gaining 22,349.11 points or 1.62% to end trade at 1,398,440.
Small caps outperformed blue chips as the TSE’s equal weighted index gaining 2.1%. Unlike the market-cap weighted TEDPIX, the latter index gives the same weight to all stocks.
The market on Wednesday featured a noticeable return of retail investors as seen in the inflow of fresh liquidity. After two weeks of net capital outflow by retail traders, 1 trillion rials ($3.7 million) came back to market.
Value of retail trade increased 26% compared to the previous session reaching 46.41 trillion rials ($170m). About 5.46 billion shares valued at 43.9 trillion rials ($162m) changed hands at TSE for the day.
Shafa Darou Investment Company was the biggest winner as its shares went up 5% to 43,910 rials per share. Mellat Leasing Company incurred the biggest loss among all TSE-listed companies and lost 4.01% to be quoted at 6,710 rials per share.
Pars Electric Manufacturing Company contributed the most to the benchmark's fall, followed by Pakshoo Industrial Group Company, Ofogh Koorosh Chain Stores Company and Alborz Cable Company.
Mobarakeh Steel Company gave the biggest boost to the benchmark index followed by Chadormalu Mining And Industrial Company, Pardis Petrochemical Company and Parsian Oil and Gas Development Group Company.
IFB Up 1.6%
Iran Fara Bourse main index, IFX, gained 310.79 points or 1.59% to close Wednesday trade at 19,853.22. About 1.89 billion securities worth 24.42 trillion rials ($90.4m) were traded at the junior exchange for the day.
Zagros Petrochemical Company, Rail Pardaz Noafarin Company, Caspian Tamin Pharmaceutical Company and Marun Petrochemical Company had the most negative impact on IFX.
Gohar Zamin Iron Ore Company gave the biggest boost to IFX, followed by Arya Sasol Polymer Company, Hormozgan Steel Company and Shahid Tondgooyan Petrochemical Company.
