Tehran Stock Exchange Buoyed by Large Caps

Tehran stocks closed Tuesday higher bucking a 7-day losing trend amid gains in most commodity and large cap stocks. 

The main index of Tehran Stock Exchange, TEDPIX, gained 9,748.42 points or 0.9% to claw back above the 1.1 million level and close at 1,105,445.

While the market cap-weighted TEDPIX was buoyed by large cap shares, the equal-weighted index failed to move into positive territory and closed 0.1% lower, extending a losing trend for the 10th session.  

On Tuesday, about 5.6 billion shares valued at 42.96 trillion rials ($186.81 million) changed hands at TSE. Salemin Company was the biggest winner as its shares went up 4.97% to 3,081 rials per share.

Doroud Cement Company incurred the biggest loss among all TSE-listed companies and went down 30.22% to 7,990 rials per share.

Pasargad Bank contributed the most to the benchmark's fall, followed by Mapna Group, Khouzestan Province Investment Company and Tejarat Bank.

Persian Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company gave the biggest boost to the benchmark index, followed by National Iranian Copper Industries Company, Esfahan Oil Refining Company and Social Security Investment Company.

 

 

IFX Up 0.44%

Iran Fara Bourse main index, IFX, gained 76.25 points or 0.44% to close Tuesday trade at 17,552.9. About 3.72 billion securities valued at 35.92 trillion rials ($156.18m) were traded at the junior exchange for the day.

Pasargad Insurance Company, Gohar Zamin Iron Ore Company, Gilan Electric Power Development Company and Iranian Reinsurance Company had the most negative impact on IFX.

Middle East Mines and Mineral Industries Development Holding Company gave the biggest boost to IFX, followed by Arya Sasol Polymer Company, Hormozgan Steel Company and Zagros Petrochemical Company.
