Semnan Exports to 49 Countries Exceed $330m

Semnan Province exported goods to 49 countries and registered significant growth in the fiscal 2020-21.

More than 260,000 tons of goods worth $332 million were exported from this province in the period under review, registering a 34% year-on-year growth in value, IRNA quoted Ali Teshnedel, the head of Semnan Industries, Mining and Trade Organization, as saying.

The exports included refined lead ingots, caustic soda, disodium carbonate, disposable products, light hydrocarbons, cables, silicon, water coolers, washing powder, iron and steel parts and components, wool, ceramics, sweets and chocolates. 

Iraq, Turkey, India, Armenia, Hong Kong, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, the UAE, Indonesia, Ukraine, Vietnam and Azerbaijan were among the main destinations.

The average value of each ton of exported goods stood at $1,248, registering a 40% growth compared with the previous year.

A total of 16,000 tons of goods worth $66 million were imported to this province during the same period, which mainly came from Turkey, China, Uzbekistan, Italy, Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands and the UAE.

Components and parts of machines and electrical appliances, bakery and confectionery machines, rubber, cotton, components of motor transformers, propylene, electric static inductors and converters, voltage regulators and motor oil were among the main goods imported to Semnan.

A total of $13 million worth of poultry, livestock and veterinarian products were exported from Semnan Province during the last Iranian year (March 2020-21), showing a 44% rise compared with the year before, according to the director general of the province’s Veterinary General Bureau.

“The exported products included goat hair and wool, inedible livestock internals, frozen chicken, egg-laying hen, eggs and livestock and poultry pharmaceuticals,” Hamidreza Hosseini was also quoted as saying by IRNA.

“The UK, Vietnam, China, Armenia, Turkmenistan and some other Central Asian states were the main export destinations.”

According to Ali Sadeddin, the head of Semnan Customs Administration, the province earned 379.95 billion rials ($16.6 million) in customs revenues during the period to register a 12% rise compared with the previous year.

Semnan Province, situated 216 kilometers east of the capital Tehran, has over 2,020 production units and is considered an industrial hub.
