Tehran Bourse Sheds 1%

After a short rally driven by an upsurge in large caps last Wednesday, Tehran’s share market was back in negative territory on Saturday.

The main index of Tehran Stock Exchange, TEDPIX, shed 13,512 points to retreat below the 1.2 million points, closing at 1,194,338.

Decline in large caps pulled down the market-cap weighted TEDPIX by 1.12% while the equal-weighted index lost 0.37%. The latter gives a better picture on performance of small caps.

About 4.97 billion shares valued at 37.58 trillion rials ($156.61 million) changed hands at TSE for the day. Bahman Group Company was the biggest winner as its shares went up 3.5% to 1,480 rials per share.

Omid Development and Construction Company incurred the biggest loss among all TSE-listed companies and went down 5.7% to 1,490 rials per share.

Mobarakeh Steel Company contributed the most to the benchmark's fall, followed by National Iranian Copper Industries Company, Persian Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company and Social Security Investment Company.

Pasargad Bank gave the biggest boost to the benchmark index followed by Bahman Group Company, Jam Polypropylene Company and Saman Kish Electronic Payment Company.

IFB Down 0.5%

Iran Fara Bourse main index, IFX, lost 87.75 points or 0.5% to close Saturday trade at 17,572.67. About 1.56 billion securities valued at 44.34 trillion rials ($184.77m) were traded at the junior exchange.

Kerman Province Development Investment Company had the highest number of traded shares as 689.6 million of its shares worth 874.35 billion rials ($3.64m) were traded.

Sepehr Saderat Financial Group Investment Company, Marun Petrochemical Company, Arya Sasol Polymer Company and Hormozgan Steel Company had the most negative impact on IFX.

Bahman Diesel Company gave the biggest boost to IFX, followed by Kerman Province Development Investment Company, Damavand Power Generation Company and Saba Tamin Investment Company.
